About Laura

Laura is an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor who works with adults, drawing upon various approaches to tailor sessions to client’s unique needs. She is Neurodivergent-Affirming and Trauma Informed.

Laura believes that the client is the expert on themselves and their experiences, therefore therapy with her is rooted in the respect for their lived experience where they can feel heard, understood and accepted as they are.

Counselling with Laura is a space to gently explore what’s going on for you, at your pace, in a way that feels safe and supportive. She believes therapy should be inclusive and accessible.

Laura brings over a decade of experience outside of the therapy room working with children and adults within various settings in the health and social care sector. She has worked with people with disabilities, mental health challenges and health conditions.

She has a special interest in working with Neurodivergent clients, clients who have visible or invisible disabilities as well as their families and carers. Self-identifying or diagnosis are both valid.

Therapy is a great place for navigating life through a new perspective and processing past experiences after questioning your Neurodivergence such as autism or ADHD and can come with some grief (particularly discovering later in life) but also validation and the freedom to choose how to live your life now. Living from your values which can increase authenticity and confidence through prioritising your needs and life.

Alongside her private practice Laura also works as a Therapeutic mentor working with children and young people who are Neurodivergent, autistic and have disabilities. In her mentor role she is supporting children who have experienced school-based anxiety and trauma.

Due to her experience, she knows the challenges of inaccessible systems and the impact of trying to fit into a workplace or education setting that don’t allow for your needs to be met and how this can affect your life and the relationships around you.

She also matches the pace of sessions to client needs for example offering fidget tools, drawing, emotion cards, encouraging clients to move around the room if they wish, sensory breaks and processing time.

Laura has availability for in-person, online and telephone sessions and welcomes clients from all walks of life, ages and genders who come with a range of experiences.

Laura believes therapy should be as unique as you are, supporting you to reconnect with yourself, your values, your voice and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
