About Sophia

Sophia is a qualified Clinical Psychologist and EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner, passionate about supporting people to develop greater understanding of themselves and their experiences, and make positive, lasting change. She has over 12 years’ experience working in various settings including the NHS, charities, and the private sector.

Sophia helps with a wide range of difficulties including but not limited to: anxiety, stress and burnout, trauma/PTSD, grief, loss, low self-esteem, and low mood/depression. She also has expertise and interest in the relationship between mental health and addiction (particularly alcohol use), with experience helping people in recovery.

Alongside her clinical work, Sophia is committed to psychological research, completing her PhD in 2018. She has conducted and published numerous research studies, and presented findings at conferences in the UK and abroad.

Therapies offered

Sophia has received training in a number of therapies, so can adapt her approach to suit clients' needs. She is an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner and regularly uses this form of therapy in her work. She also draws on principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
