Dr Clare Evans

About Clare

Clare is a qualified Clinical Psychologist offering one to one therapy using a formulation (individual understanding) driven approach. She is passionate about helping people to reach their full potential.

 

Having worked for over eighteen years in services including the NHS, the Institute of Psychology Psychiatry & Neuroscience (IoPPN) and the charitable sector, Clare has helped with a wide range of difficulties including but not limited to: anxiety, OCD, trauma/PTSD, loss, low self-esteem, emotion regulation struggles, making sense of neurodiversity and depression. Clare offers therapy for adults and young people who may be struggling with any emotional difficulty and are looking for a therapist able to deliver both person-centred and evidence-based therapy.

 

Clare works to build a safe and containing therapeutic alliance. She believes this alliance is central to the development of trusting collaboration that will help unlock key change. Psychological therapy can help individuals gain a better understanding of themselves and also help equip them with ways to manage difficulties; leaving them feeling empowered.

Alongside her therapeutic work, Clare is also trained in the assessing for autism spectrum disorder, accredited in specialist ADOS assessments.

 

Outside of clinical practice, Clare enjoys spending time with her family and friends by the sea. She is a keen sea swimmer, loves cycling along the long Bournemouth promenade and running in nature.

Therapies offered

Clare has been trained in, and offers, a range of evidence-based therapies to help individuals overcome their difficulties. Approaches drawn on (but not limited to) include; Cognitive Behavioural, Acceptance and Commitment, EMDR, Compassionate approaches and Narrative Therapies. Clare is CBT accredited and EMDR trained. She is certified in ADOS autism assessments.

  • Counselling Studies Level 3 – Lambeth College

  • Master in Forensic Mental Health - University of London

  • Doctor of Clinical Psychology, DClinPsy (University of Southampton)

  • ADOS and ADI-R Autism Training – Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust

  • Ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD) - various training courses
